Hey guys! As Legacy is getting closer, Kate and I tend to spiral into what can only be referred to as a “Keeper craze”. All we can talk and think about is Keeper of the Lost Cities. I mean cannot stop. Not to mention our general passion over every little thing multiplies by like a billion. (Which means an immense amount of shouting, eye-rolls from family, and who can forget the squealing). Today we present to you a theory we came across recently that frankly, we are convinced of.
Something I have always loved about Shannon Messenger’s writing, is how she intentionally names people and things; generally the meaning of the name matches the person or object. For example, Forkle means “mysterious but loving”, Vespera means “Eveningstar”, Keefe means “lovable”, Sophie means “wisdom”, Tam means “twin”. (You can pretty much look up any characters name and it will correlate to the character).
As just shown, Shannon is very detailed when it comes to names. So a few days ago I was doing my thing, scrolling through Keeper related stuff thinking about reasons Sophie and Keefe should be together. And I came across a post(link to original post:https://www.instagram.com/p/B0msLP6JgrZ/?igshid=odelfvahi7vw) I found that, Cognate means “blood relative”. No I am not kidding. Google it if you don’t believe me. I know your jaw is on the floor right now.
Cognate means blood relative, which potentially is pointing to Fitz and Sophie being related. (In which case they could not end up together) Perhaps this is also why Sophie trusts Fitz so much, it seemed like as soon as they met, they instantly shared familial trust. Mr. Forkle once told Sophie that if she found out who her parents were, “it would shake the foundations of their very world”. The Vackers being connected to a conspiracy group such as the Black Swan would certainly do just that.
Keefoster fans this could be the breakthrough we have been looking for. Or it could be wishful thinking. Whatever it is we think this is a major contender in possible things that could happen. Not only does it solve the love triangle but it tells us who one of her parents are. Share this with your Keeper friends and let us know what you think!!!
*Future Kylee here! Yes, while this theory was fun to think up and research, it was officially and canonically debunked in Legacy. 😦 Not to worry, we will no doubt come up with another game-changing and impossible theory soon!
