Summary

Sophie Foster doesn’t know what—or whom—to believe. And in a game with this many players, the worst mistake can be focusing on the wrong threat.

But when the Neverseen prove that Sophie’s far more vulnerable than she ever imagined, she realizes it’s time to change the rules. Her powerful abilities can only protect her so far. To face down ruthless enemies, she must learn to fight.

Unfortunately, battle training can’t help a beloved friend who’s facing a whole different danger—where the only solution involves one of the biggest risks Sophie and her friends have ever taken. And the distraction might be exactly what the villains have been waiting for.

What do we think?

Here’s the thing guys… Flashback is my least favorite book in the series. Now I see the daggers in your eyes right now and I’m begging you to let me explain. I’m not a Sofitz shipper, I’m just not, and nothing you can say will make my change my mind, but that’s not what all this is about. If you want to debate ships head to our ships page. The fact I’m not a Sofitz shipper isn’t the only reason I don’t love Flashback. Sophie spends about 300 pages in the healing center over a couple of broken finger bones, and an echo. Now I’m not saying the echo isn’t bad, but 300 pages of bed rest is slightly ridiculous. Fitz had a much worse injury and had the same amount of time resting. It’s these inconsistencies that me me slightly frustrated. Now I can’t deny my love for the Alicorn babies! Wynn and Luna are simply adorable! I think the names are a bit overused, but it’s great anyways! There is so much more to say about Flashback that just can’t be worded, but if you have any questions or theories feel free to comment below!!

~Kate McKinley

I agree with Kate…Flashback is by far my least favorite book. The first two chapters were really strong and they had me super excited, but then they went to the Healing Center…for 300 pages. And in those 300 pages nothing happened except for a lot of Fitzphie fluff. In this book there were several plot holes, along with the fact that elves can cure cancer with one elixir, humans can fix broken fingers within weeks and with no bedrest required. So why couldn’t the elves take care of the broken bones without spending three weeks in the Healing Center? I have no clue. Now some people are going to hate me for this but I love Lady Gisela, I think she is absolutely fabulous. So when Umber came along I was really excited for this female villain trifecta. But then after one book of us just getting to meet her, Umber died. That is so unfortunate because I would have loved to see more of her character. I think that Alvar should have died and Umber should have lived. We have seen enough of bad boy Alvar and he had the opportunity to die and yet Umber died instead. I also really don’t like that Tam joined the Neverseen. We have already had a character(Keefe) join the Neverseen, which is frustrating because it is just creating the same plot line. #itsbeendonebefore. Also where did all the side characters go? The adults/parents were not in it at all, the Black Swan was non-existent, and Keefe, Biana, Dex, etc. were barely in the book. But the three characters that were in the majority of the book were Sophie(understandably), Fitz, and Elwin.  In conclusion, I felt throughout the book that it felt more like a fanfiction than an actual Keeper book and despite the hype I was pretty disappointed. I am very sorry because I don’t feel like I said anything good about Flashback. And I feel like this review is way longer than it should have been. Let us know what you guys think!!
